USE OF BICYCLES ON RAPIDKL TRANSPORT

Commuting by bicycle to work or to places you wish to go to is great for your health. It gives you a low-impact workout twice a day, so it can help you keep your weight down. By not using your car, you could save your pocket.

We at RapidKL have always encouraged people to take the public transport to help reduce the air and noise pollution in Klang Valley. Studies have shown that traffic jams is the main source of carbon dioxide emissions in Klang Valley. We believe that cycling can also help reduce pollution and help prevent global climate change.

RapidKL acknowledges the fact that some of our commuters cycle to our stations and park their bicycles there to take our LRT. RapidKL even allows cyclists to bring their foldable bicycles on board the trains or buses so they may continue their journey on their bicycle. But this is provided all policies and guidelines are adhered to (the policies and guidelines are appended below).

Commuters may use bicycles to access RapidKL's network via:

Cycling to the nearest LRT station or Bus Stations and parking your bicycle at the bicycle parking bays provided.

OR utilizing foldable bicycles (only during off-peak hours 9.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m) 

 

Here are some guidelines commuters with folding bikes have to follow

  1. Inform station personnel of your intention to bring a foldable bicycle onboard.

  2. Bicycles MUST be folded and once folded, dimensions must not exceed 3 x 2.5 x 1.5 feet.

  3. Bicycles must be dry and clean from oil/mud/grease. This is to ensure grimes from the tires or the working parts does not contaminate the trains.

  4. Bicycles must not block the aisles and doors or impede commuter movement at ANY time.

  5. When taking the Kelana Jaya Line, cyclist with the foldable bicycle must stand near the door while on Ampang Line cyclist must stand near the Driving Cab area.

  6. If traveling in group, only FIVE (5) cyclists are allowed with the bicycles on board the Ampang Line and if traveling on the Kelana Jaya Line only TWO cyclists are allowed. If traveling on the bus only ONE cyclist and foldable bicycle is allowed at one time.

  7. All folding and unfolding activities must be done outside the station area.

  8. Please use good judgement and logic whenever you travel with a foldable bicycle onboard the LRT
