NEW PAYMENT METHOD FOR RAPIDKL'S RAIL AND BUS SERVICES PDF Print E-mail

Petaling Jaya, February 27, 2008 - The SEMUA and SEPADU tickets which are also available currently as manual tickets will be replaced completely by the magnetic Touch N Go (TNG) card from 1 March 2008. On the same date, the RM40 Bus Concession Monthly Travel Card will be discontinued.

As of 1 November 2007, RapidKL has introduced the TNG card as an alternative fare payment method both on its buses and LRT for all types of fare, with the exception of the single journey fare of RM3 for Express buses which will still be carried out with the use of manual tickets and is not available through the use of TNG cards.

“As part of the company’s continuous efforts to move into a cashless oriented environment, RapidKL will eventually replace all manual tickets with contact-less smart cards. We will do this in phases starting with the SEMUA and SEPADU tickets. We will also discontinue the RM40 Bus Concession Monthly Travel Card which is currently sold as a manual ticket.  However, those who qualify for the bus concession fare can continue to enjoy this benefit by purchasing the ticket on the bus daily.” explained Shahril Mokhtar, General Manager, CEO’s office.

Passengers who do not have a TNG card can purchase these cards at the LRT stations for RM10 with a minimum value of RM20 and a maximum value of RM1,500.

With the implementation of the TNG system for the SEMUA and SEPADU fares, the concession fare of RM3 for SEMUA and RM6 for SEPADU will still be available for the disabled, Warga Emas and students (in government school uniform), but in manual form and not with the use of the TNG card.
